The GPX 4000 has a much more stable threshold tone in Sensitive Extra, Normal and Sensitive Smooth than the GP 3000. It also has more sensitivity/gain adjustability so it can be cranked up more than I remember on the GP 3000. Whether that results in more depth than the GP 3000 on 1 gram and up sized gold, I just can't answer that.

Does anyone have any opinion of or hints ortips for use of minelab gp3000. I had one when they were the latest. Was good using the Coiltek 14 inch round DD. Simple machine compared to my 5000. I used it in tracking as it was not great where I detected in fixed as the ground was/is too variable.

A matter of fact, my partner still uses the GP3000 and found over a pound of gold at Moore Creek, Alaska this year in one weeks time!

All the other MDs were lighter to handle but the weight and quality is in my GP 3000. I only now have a Whites MXT and the 3000. MXT for coins and the 3000 for the Gold fields.
